Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Vanishing Shadow, the 1934 Lew Landers (billed as "Louis Friedlander") science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy crime mystery serial ("12 Smashing Chapters of ACTION! MYSTERY! and THRILLS!"; based on the story by Ella O'Neill; about an electrical engineer whose father was killed by a vicious gang, and he invents devices in order to try to smash the gang; some of his inventions include a "vanishing belt", which allows the wearer to become invisible, a robot, a ray gun, and many more!) starring Onslow Stevens, Ada Ince, William Desmond, Walter Miller, James Durkin, Richard Cramer, William Desmond, and Lee J. Cobb (uncredited in his first movie role!). Note that there were very few science fiction movies in the 1930s, and this is one that is rarely mentioned by poster collectors, likely because movie paper of any kind from it is unbelievably rare! It would be one of the hardest "holes" to fill in any sci-fi movie collection. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a serial from which movie paper is beyond rare! We have never before auctioned even one poster or lobby card from it, only a single glass slide. We were starting to wonder if they even made any movie paper! But now we have been consigned this ultra rare lobby card, and there is no doubt that it is from the first release, because it is both dated 1934 and has Universal on it. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There are faint smudges down the middle left of the image, in the background area, and they are not very distracting. Otherwise, the card is in pretty nice condition.
