Date Sold 6/23/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Warner Bros. Cartoons, the 1946 stock poster for theaters showing Warner Bros Bugs Bunny Specials, Looney Tunes, and Merrie Melodies animated cartoons and featuring great early art of Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, and more! Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Warner Bros. in 1946 for use with all entries of their "Merrie Melodies Looney Tunes" series (every few years, they made a different stock poster). Theaters would order this poster, which had a blank area at middle right. They would either be sent a series of paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Note that Warner Bros. had an earlier stock poster that they created in 1943 that had a much earlier version of Bugs Bunny on it. No doubt they created this new stock poster in 1946 because his character had evolved quite a bit over those next three years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that theaters ordered this poster in 1946, and they could use it for current cartoons, but there was nothing stopping them from using it for past cartoons. In the case of this poster, they glued a studio-issued snipe for "Dangerous Dan McFoo" in the snipe area. That is a wonderful 1939 Warner Bros. cartoon that was a parody of "Dangerous Dan McGrew", and was directed by Tex Avery, before he left Warner Bros. for MGM! The snipe has great artwork from the cartoon (the snipes are extremely rare and collectible, even when they are not attached to a poster). Condition: very good. The poster has separation and tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, and pinholes and smudges around the edges. Learn More about condition grades
