An Original Vintage German Film Program (measures 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More)

Die Buchse der Pandora (Lulu); (released in the U.S. as "Pandora's Box"), the classic 1929 G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) German silent tragic romantic melodrama (a story about an innocent yet hedonistic dancer and prostitute who dooms every man who encounters her; the movie that launched Louise Brooks into international stardom) starring Louise Brooks, Fritz Kortner, Francis Lederer, Carl Goetz, and Krafft-Raschig. Note that silent star Louise Brooks turned her back on Hollywood in 1929, and went to Europe and made some memorable films, most notably this film. In the early 1930s she attempted to return to Hollywood (minus her trademark flapper hairdo), but met with little success. She resurfaced in the 1960s and wrote books and articles about her life, and acquired a huge cult following.

Important Added Info: Note that it is the dream of many long time movie paper collectors to have a first release "country of origin" item for this most classic German movie, but the few posters that exist are likely only in museums. This is the very first time we have auctioned the first release German program for this movie, which has a wonderful cover of Louise Brooks full-length, and is filled with fantastic images from the movie (we have pictured all the pages, since we know that almost all collectors will never get to see them otherwise! Also note that we have pictured the front cover and an interior 2-page spread from this program.

Condition: very good to fine. The program has some very minor wear but is in overall quite nice condition!
