An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]; 32 pages) (Learn More) Columbia 1926-27, the 1926 Columbia Pictures campaign book ("A National Institution") sent to theater owners to encourage them to show upcoming Columbia movies scheduled for 1926 and 1927. The book includes many pages of images and information about Columbia's stars and upcoming movies including: The Lone Wolf Returns, The Truthful Sex, Stolen Pleasures, and The Clown. This book shows that in 1926, Columbia was not yet starting to come into its own as a major studio, because it is filled with full-page two-color ads, and most lack big name stars and several of them are somewhat lurid in nature. Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived. I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare! Finally, note that campaign books in general are extremely rare, and the best of them have often sold for hundreds of dollars, and in the case of the very finest, thousands of dollars! Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this campaign book! Condition: good to very good. The cover has staining around the edges, in the blank areas, and someone hand wrote "1926-27" on the front cover. There is paper loss in the top right corner of the cover, and then progressively much smaller paper loss in the top right corner of the rest of the pages, but the last bunch of pages only have tiny paper loss in that area, with slight staining. This only affects the blank corner and we leave it to the bidders to decide how significant this defect is, because otherwise, the book is in generally pretty nice condition!
