An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) I Changed My Sex, the circa 1950s melodrama, surely inspired by the 1952 real life case of Christine Jorgensen, who had the first sex change operation. It appears that this is NOT the 1953 Ed Wood movie, "Glen or Glenda", which he originally intended to title "I Changed My Sex", and which was supposed to tell Jorgensen's story, but which ended up a story about Wood's own transvestism! Certainly, it is possible there is no actual movie that was made with this title, because the only poster we have seen is a roadshow 40x60 with solely the movie title and a picture of a sexy woman, and it could have been used to advertise another movie that was retitled to the then current headline provoking "I Changed My Sex". If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the poster is on a heavy board (it was created that way) and was likely created by a regional company that supplied posters for roadshow releases of low budget movies. It will need to be sent in a very large flat package. UPDATED 11/12/2012: Note that the consignor of these posters tells us that, contrary to what was written in the auction description, the posters had Plexiglas over them for the years they were displayed, but obviously it did not provide enough protection to the posters, because they sustained the damaged described on each. Condition: fair. The poster was created on a heavy board, with red tape around the edges to create a "picture frame-like" border. Someone nailed the poster to a wall with nails in the red border areas and it hung on a wall unprotected for decades, and there are many scratches, scattered white marks and uneven brown darkening throughout the poster (including in the face and body of the girl) with severe deterioration in the bottom center, with staining above that that extends into the title. The red tape is separated and frayed in the corners. Certainly, the poster has so many defects that I would not think someone would display it without giving it professional restoration, but it is also true that a talented restorer can work wonders on a poster like this! But this might be quite expensive, so please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored!
