An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 74", BECAUSE THE BOTTOM 7" OF THE POSTER IS MISSING) (Learn More) Singin' in the Rain, the classic 1952 Stanley Donen & Gene Kelly romantic musical comedy (considered by most the best musical of all time!; "What a glorious feeling"; "MGM's Technicolor Musical Treasure!"; "Suggested by the song 'Singin' In the Rain'"; about a Hollywood movie studio in the late 1920s that wants to begin making sound pictures, but their top leading lady has a dreadful voice, plus they have great difficulties adapting to the sound equipment; pretty young Debbie Reynolds comes along to dub in the singing voice of the primadonna leading lady, played to perfection by Jean Hagen) starring Gene Kelly (as Don Lockwood), Donald O'Connor (as Cosmo Brown), Debbie Reynolds (as Kathy Selden), Jean Hagen (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Lina Lamont), Millard Mitchell (as R.F. Simpson), and Cyd Charisse (unnamed, only referred to as "Dancer"). Note that this greatest of all Hollywood musicals had an odd beginning! The title song had been sung in "The Hollywood Revue of 1929" by Cliff Edwards, and that inspired this movie, and in addition, the song "Make 'Em Laugh" was basically plagiarized from "Be a Clown", from "The Pirate"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 3 sections. HOWEVER, THE BOTTOM 7" OF THE POSTER WAS LOST (THE PORTION WITH THE TINY CREDITS ONLY). WE ARE ONLY SELLING THE TOP TWO PIECES OF THIS POSTER! This poster was printed in an unusual way. There is a top piece which includes the title, then a large center piece, and then a small bottom piece that is 7" high by 41" wide. We have the top two pieces of this poster, but are missing the bottom small piece. This bottom piece, which is only 7" high, contains the tiny credits for the movie (the credits for the main stars are in the top section). I would think anybody could frame this incomplete poster just as it is and be quite happy with it, or could certainly hire any restorer to recreate the missing credits area, but PLEASE do not forget that we are only auctioning the top two pieces of this poster! Condition: good. The two parts of the poster that are present are in pretty nice condition. There are creases and some pinholes around the edges (more so in the smaller top section). But PLEASE do not forget that we are only auctioning the top two pieces of this poster! Note that the poster was folded oddly and will need to be sent in a larger-than-usual flat package.
