An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14" x 18 3/4" [36 x 48 cm]) (Learn More) a circa 1940s Belgian stock poster for Laurel & Hardy movies! The poster features great different headshot artwork of the comedy duo, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Belgian theaters would display this poster when they would show Laurel & Hardy movies (sometimes writing in the title of the specific movie being shown at the bottom of the poster). Note that Laurel & Hardy movies were very popular in the 1930s and 1940s, in the U.S. and abroad. In Belgium, there was a paper shortage during the 1940s and 1950s, and so they sometimes printed up stock posters for the most popular stars and teams, including Laurel & Hardy, to be used by theaters showing any of their movies, thus conserving on paper. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18 3/4" [36 x 48 cm]. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair to good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). There are many creases throughout the poster and there is tattering and paper loss around the edges with some repaired with tape from the front and back. Learn More about condition grades
