Date Sold 11/1/2020 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure (measure from 8 1/2" x 11 1/4" [22 x 29 cm] to 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm])) (Learn More) Die Grafin von Monte-Christo (released in English-speaking countries as "The Countess of Monte Cristo"), the 1932 Karl Hartl German movie acting romantic comedy (about two struggling young actresses who are fed up taking smaller roles; during the shooting of a movie they steal a car and drive it from the set and eventually go to a fancy hotel where one registers herself under the false title "The Countess of Monte Cristo" as part of plan to prove to the world that they can be "great actresses"; they meet other rich guests and successfully fool them, but later find out that some of the guests are also impostors, which ruins their plans!) starring Brigitte Helm (in a rare comedic performance), Rudolf Forster, Lucie Englisch, Gustaf Grundgens, Oskar Sima, and Mathias Wieman. Note that this movie was remade twice: once in 1934 with Fay Wray, and then again in 1948 with Sonja Henie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned ANY movie paper for this film until we were consigned these three cards (which are "country of origin" lobby cards for this German movie!). Note also that each has one or more embossed German seals in the bottom edge of each card. This is not a defect, as they appear on all first release German lobby cards (and these particular seals were used during the German Weimar Republic era which dates them to 1931-1932), and they guarantee that these cards are authentic! Condition: good to very good. The two horizontal cards have a faint embossed German seal in the lower left and right corners and the vertical still has one at lower right (see above for more on these seals). Each has varying amounts of scuffing in portions of the image and pinholes in the corners, but they still display pretty well when looked at from head on, and they are otherwise in pretty nice condition!
