eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6x427 INFERNO LC '19 two men walk through lots of naked people writhing in Hell! Date Sold 11/2/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Inferno (also known as "Das Spiel mit dem Teufel" in Germany), the 1919 Paul Czinner Austrian horror thriller short starring Franz Herterich, Grete Lundt, and Erik Schmedes. Note that "Inferno" is Italian for Hell, and Dante wrote his "Inferno" or Divine Comedy in the 14th century, and it has been a very popular subject for movies since the early silent days. There were two 1911 Italian versions as well as a 1914 Italian version, and this lobby card does not give any information beyond the title, but we think it likely it is from this 1919 Austrian version, but we can't say for certain. There was a 1924 U.S. movie from William Fox called "Dante's Inferno", but we think this lobby card is surely not from that movie, both because William Fox always put his name on his advertising, and because we have seen lobby cards from that movie, and they do not look like this lobby card. If anyone knows more about this movie, or which version of Dante's Inferno this lobby card is from, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. There are many pinholes and stains around the edges. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card!
