A 1956 Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has a completely different image to that of the first release poster, and it is unfolded and has never been backed (when we have auctioned it before, it has been paperbacked)! Also note that this classic and much loved horror movie was given a quick re-release in 1956. Best of all, many of the 1956 re-release posters have significantly better images than the 1948 first release ones! This is especially true with this half-sheet, which has large artwork images of the monsters (there were small photographic images on the 1948 half-sheet). Many collectors value this poster more highly than the 1948 half-sheet, and it is more rare than the first release half-sheet (likely because fewer theaters played the movie in 1956 than in 1948). Note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It has two small brown stains in the left of the top blank border and one in the center of the top blank border. It has faint staining scattered in part of the top blank border and in part of the right blank border, with small creases in the bottom right corner. Other than the above, which are entirely in the blank borders, the poster is in wonderful condition! Learn More about condition grades
