An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 17 1/2" [36 x 44 cm]) (Learn More) The Girl Friend, the 1935 Edward N. Buzzell theater stage acting mistaken identity romantic musical comedy farce ("Lovable, musical, comical"; "The boys are losing their heads over her!"; about an actor who has written a satirical musical play about Napoleon, having the almost-world conqueror singing and dancing; a major producer turns him down, and that's no surprise, but then a man who has written a serious play about Napoleon invites the producer to come to his farm to talk about producing it, and the actor learns of this and goes in the producer's place, pretending to be the producer, and that's just the beginning of this incredibly zany comedy, and it shows scenes of the comic Napoleon play, with Jack Haley playing Napoleon, which has to be seen to be believed!) starring Ann Sothern, Jack Haley, Roger Pryor, Thurston Hall, Victor Kilian, and Ray Walker. Note that this is a completely forgotten movie today except by major film buffs, which is a real shame, because those who have seen it agree it is very funny, and it seems a certainty that Mel Brooks must have seen this movie, because there are strong parallels between it and his classic "The Producers"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a glass slide and two stills from this movie, and NO other movie paper items of any kind from this movie, until we received this window card! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 17 1/2" [36 x 44 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good to very good. The card had a blank top that was mostly trimmed off. It has some light water staining scattered down the right border, entering into the image at top right. There is some faint uneven discoloration scattered throughout the card. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the stains can be removed through chemical means, after which the card will look fantastic. Learn More about condition grades
