An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Lawrence of Arabia, the classic 1962 (wide release in the U.S. in 1963) David Lean (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English/U.S. World War I (WWI) desert adventure thriller ("Stands Alone!"; "Unanimously acclaimed as 'One of the all time greatest films!'"; "Best Picture of the Year!"; "Winner of 7 Academy Awards!"; "The motion picture that made great international stars of Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif"; "After five years... The first motion picture from the creators of 'The Bridge On The River Kwai.'"; "A mighty spectacle of action and adventure!"; produced by Sam Spiegel and David Lean; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins, Jose Ferrer, Anthony Quayle, Claude Rains, Arthur Kennedy, Omar Sharif (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as 'Ali'"), Peter O'Toole (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as T.E. Lawrence; billed as "introducing Peter O'Toole as Lawrence"; which is odd, because he had small parts in several movies prior to this one!), and Zia Mohyeddin NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Georges Kerfyser Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this British quad (and only once in the past 24 years, and that example auctioned for $16,607!). It is the pre-Awards "country of origin" poster for this classic partially English movie. It is also the only example of this poster we have auctioned that was never folded. British quads from this time period are almost never found unfolded, and it may be the only example of this poster that exists that was not folded, making it an even greater rarity than it already is! Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has tape stains in the center of three blank borders and diagonal tape stains in each blank corner. It has some faint creases and scuffs scattered across the center, but they are mostly only noticeable in the white area at middle left. There are some tiny creases in the borders and a few tiny scuffs scattered in the image. Because the defects are primarily in the blank borders, and because the poster was never folded (a big plus), we are grading it as "very good", but that all depends on how much weight a person puts on the importance of blank border tape stains and the importance of having never been folded. This poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one might choose to have restoration performed. Either way, the new owner of this poster will have one of the most important and difficult to obtain English posters to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
