An Unfolded Russian Special Poster (measures 16 1/4" x 20 3/4" [41 x 53 cm]) (Learn More)

Five-Pointed Star and Red Tie (literal translation of the Russian title), the 1981 Russian poster encouraging children to participate in the Zarnitsa military games, and featuring artwork of kids wearing uniforms and holding rifles. Zarnitsa was a massive children's war game organized within the Young Pioneers organization. The game was an imitation of military actions and the rules were based on the concept of capture the flag. Every player had two shoulder straps that served as health indicators and can be torn off by the opponents. The games were intended for schoolchildren between the ages of 10 to 13. Note that the title refers to the red Pioneer ties that children wore and the red star symbol of the USSR.
