A 1953 Re-Release Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 26 3/4" x 36 1/2" [68 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) La Balandra Isabel Llego Esta Tarde (literally translates to "The Yacht Isabel Arrived This Afternoon"), the 1950 Carlos Hugo Christensen Venezuelan/Argentinean romantic family melodrama starring Arturo de Cordova, Virginia Luque, Juana Sujo, America Barrio, Tomas Enriquez, Juan Corona, and Nestor Zavarce. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Juan Antonio Vargas Ocampo Important Added Info: Note that this poster is apparently a 1953 re-titled ("Mariposas Negras" which translates to "Black Butterflies") re-release of a 1950 movie of an entirely different name! The horror art on this poster is wildly different from that of the first release posters (the art is likely referencing the story plot of Arturo de Cordova's mistress using voodoo spells on him), but the stars are the same, and IMDb gives this title as a re-release title for the 1950 movie. Also, note that this movie made Nestor Zavarce famous and he was third-billed on this re-release poster (as "El nino Nestor Zavarce"). Finally, note that the art on this poster is signed "Vargas", but is NOT the famous pin-up artist Alberto Vargas, but rather a Mexican artist whose full name was Juan Antonio Vargas Ocampo! Condition: fair. The back of the edges and folds are covered in tape (repairing some defects in a few areas) and several areas along the foldlines and edges are touched up with marker (see our image). This Mexican poster is somewhat fragile. Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines (but of course, any talented restorer could linenback the poster, after which it would look great).
