An Undated (probably 1920s) Re-Release (re-titled "The Man Killer" for this re-release) Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]) (Learn More)

The Gunfighter, the 1917 William S. Hart silent Arizona romantic cowboy western melodrama (from the story by Monte M. Katterjohn; like all of William S. Hart's movies, this one has a wild plot that is really involved and interesting; a hardened gunfighter who has built his reputation by killing many men gets into a feud with a Mexican bandit named El Salvador, and he kills the bandit's lieutenant, and a pretty woman sees him do it and says he is just as bad as the men he killed, and he kidnaps the girl and falls in love with her, and she gets him to promise to never kill again, but then the government offers him a pardon if he can bring in El Salvador, and he decides it is worth it, and he manages to capture El Salvador, but while returning, he himself is mortally wounded) starring William S. Hart (in the title role as Cliff Hudspeth), Margery Wilson, Roy Laidlaw, Joseph J. Dowling, and Milton Ross. Note that some of the advertising says "The Gunfighter" and some says "The Gun Fighter".

Important Added Info: Note that this card does not have a title on it, but we have seen a title card with similar border art and writing that is from "The Man Killer". But that title is a 1920s re-release of "The Gunfighter", so we know that this card is a 1920s scene card from that same re-release. Note that we have been consigned a collection of early lobby cards that all were heavily trimmed (some with just the borders trimmed, but others trimmed to 8" x 10"). They are all from very rare titles, and certainly, they could be restored (or displayed as they are). One would obviously prefer finding an untrimmed example of this card, but one might wait a VERY long time to find that untrimmed example, but bear in mind this significant defect before bidding on this card, which has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. All the blank borders have been trimmed off, but otherwise, the card is in nice condition! Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
