An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Military One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Dracula (released in the U.S. as "Horror of Dracula" and "Dracula 1958"), the classic 1958 Terence Fisher English Hammer vampire horror thriller ("The chill of the tomb won't leave your blood for hours... After you come face-to-face with Dracula !"; "Who will be his bride tonight?"; "The terrifying lover who died... Yet lived!"; "The chill of the tomb won't leave your blood for hours... after you come face-to-face with Dracula !"; "Don't dare see it... alone!"; "All New! In Brilliant Technicolor!"; "Screenplay by Jimmy Sangster"; "From the novel by Bram Stoker") starring Peter Cushing (as Doctor Van Helsing), Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, Carol Marsh, Christopher Lee (in the title role "as Dracula"), John Van Eyssen, Valerie Gaunt, and Janina Faye. Note that this was the very first of the Hammer Dracula movies! Given how popular they are today, it seems surprising that it took two years to make a sequel (The Brides of Dracula in 1960), and even more surprising that Christopher Lee did not reprise his role (David Peel took over in this one). To be fair, Christopher Lee had played Sherlock Holmes in the interim, and that was probably more interesting to him. Hammer and he didn't return to Dracula until 1966 with Dracula: Prince of Darkness, and there were five more Dracula Hammer movies between 1968 and 1972! Military one-sheets were printed at the same time as the regular U.S. one-sheets when the movie was first released. They were made to be used on U.S. military installations. Sometimes the poster has small writing at the bottom that says "For Distribution and Use at U.S. Military Establishments Only", and sometimes they just have "Litho in U.S.A." or "Printed in U.S.A." in small letters in the lower right (most often, the ones that were used in the 1950s in the Korean War have "Litho in U.S.A.", and the ones that were used in the 1960s in the Vietnam War have "Printed in U.S.A.). This is one of the posters that says "Printed in U.S.A.". What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had its blank borders folded over and then stapled, and there was minor wear on the foldlines, with scuffs in the black background area. There was paper loss in the bottom center of the poster, affecting Terence Fisher's credit, and the word "EXECUTIVE" next to it. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration, and the restorer apparently did not recognize Terence Fisher's name, and made it "TERENCE FISH"!
