An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27 1/4" x 39" [69 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) Kampfgeschwader Lutzow (released in English-speaking countries as "Battle Squadron Lutzow"), the 1941 Hans Bertram German World War II (WWII) Nazi propaganda military airplane aviation melodrama sequel (about heroic German Luftwaffe aviators during the invasion of Poland) starring Christian Kayssler, Hermann Braun, Heinz Welzel, Hannes Keppler, and Marietheres Angerpointner. Note that this was a sequel to "D III 88: The New German Air Force Attacks", made in 1939, and star Hermann Braun made the mistake of making remarks critical of the Nazis shortly after this movie came out, and he was forbidden to make any more movies. In 1944, he was drafted and in 1945, he was killed by Russian snipers. Note that this is a "conditional" movie. This refers to around 40 movies that were made in Germany between 1933 and 1945, during the time the Nazis were in power in Germany. These movies are considered to be propaganda movies, which glorify the Nazi regime and their ideals. Immediately after World War II, a list of over 100 movies that were made between 1933 and 1945 was created, and those movies were not allowed to be shown at any time in Germany or Austria. Over the next decade, around 60 of those movies were taken off the list so that they are allowed to be shown (but rarely are), and those movies are known as "forbidden movies", because even though they can now be shown, they could not be shown at all in the years right after World War II. The remaining 40 or so movies (including this one) are known as "conditional" movies, because they are still not allowed to be shown in Germany or Austria, even in the present day, with the sole exception being when they are shown in an educational context, like at a university, and a speaker talks before and after the movie. Artist: Sergio Garguilo Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare Italian poster from during World War II that we never have auctioned before! Virtually no Italian posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only some heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in Italy during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards! Note also that this Italian one-sheet measures 27 1/4" x 39" [69 x 99 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has a few tiny pinholes around the edges (mostly backed with tape) and some tiny dot stains in the lower blank borders. It has very light fold and border wear and overall the poster is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
