An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) 1,000,000 B.C., the 1940 Hal Roach & Hal Roach Jr. science fiction prehistoric caveman dinosaur fantasy romantic adventure thriller ("Actual living animals of a bygone age recreated and filmed by a new secret process!"; "See the most exciting adventure in a million years!"; "What was love like a million years ago?"; "Greatest Thrills on earth... Wonders Never Before Beheld by Man. The Amazing Spectacle of the World at the Dawn of Time!"; "See: Giant Wooly Mammoths Wreak Havoc... Destruction in Mad Stampede"; produced by Hal Roach & D.W. Griffith) starring Victor Mature, Carole Landis (as "Loana, the Golden One"), Lon Chaney Jr., John Hubbard, and Nigel De Brulier. Note that D.W. Griffith was originally supposed to direct this film but passed the reins to Roach and his son. He then worked as a producer but had his named removed due to a disagreement with Roach. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, and had significant restoration. If this bothers you, do not bid on this item! Read below for a complete description of the restoration this poster has had.; the poster had a huge number of horizontal creases running across the entire poster; linenbacking has minimized these creases, and from any distance away, they because only slightly distracting (but when you look close up you see that the poster is full of creases); there was a deep 2" diagonal scuff mark just after the word "ONE" at the start of the title running down into the "O" of "MILLION" (again, linenbacking has minimized this, although you can still see it); there was paper loss in the bottom right of the right border extending into the image background below Landis' dress; there was a hole in the "O" of "ONE" in the title extending into the blue background; Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Obviously, this poster is not for everyone! It had the most creases I have ever seen in a poster. But it displays well from any distance, and I do not know where one would find another example of this poster! But please do not bid on it unless you can accept the restoration and defects it has!
