Leila Hyams was an actress from the 1920s to the 1930s (her film career only lasted 12 years). She is best remembered for her major roles in Freaks and Island of Lost Souls, two early 1930s horror classics. Some of her other films include: Ruggles of Red Gap, Stepping Out, and The Big House. She passed away in 1977 at the age of 72.

Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Leila Hyams! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a Bonham's TCM Auction in 2018. It was one of a group of signed photos that were owned by Thelma Williston, who was from New Jersey and born in 1899, and likely acquired this photo and the others in the 1920s and 1930s. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.

Also note that this still measures 10" x 13" [25 x 33 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock and it has an embossed photographer's stamp in one of the bottom corners.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
