An Original Vintage Linenbacked French World War I Poster (measures 30 3/4" x 47 1/4" [78 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) Banque Nationale De Credit (literally translates to "National Bank Of Credit"), the 1918 French World War I (WWI) War Bond poster encouraging citizens to support their troops, and featuring Sem art of soldiers with their equipment and rifles marching past General Ferdinand Foch. Foch was a French general and military theorist who served as the Supreme Allied Commander during the First World War. He stopped the German Spring offensive and launched a war-winning counterattack. On November 11th, 1918, Foch accepted the German request for an armistice. Foch considered the Treaty of Versailles too lenient on Germany and he declared, "This is not peace. It is an armistice for twenty years." (which proved to be true). Artist: Sem Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had slight darkening and minor wear around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
