A Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 23 3/4" x 39" [60 x 99 cm]) (Learn More)

Air France: Spain, the 1960s (possibly 1968) French airplane airline aviation travel poster promoting travel to Spain aboard Air France, and featuring abstract artwork by Georges Mathieu. Mathieu was a French abstract painter, art theorist and member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He is considered one of the fathers of European lyrical abstraction, a trend of informalism.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. There are some scuffs in the metallic gold letters of "AIR FRANCE", but otherwise, the poster was in nice condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
