An Original Vintage Metal Notary Stamper (measures 1 1/2" x 4 3/4" x 5"; includes 4 cancelled checks that measure from 3" x 7" to 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" and One telegram that measures 6 1/2" x 8") (Learn More) Cecil B. DeMille was a legendary director from the 1910s to the 1950s. What makes him so remarkable is that he made some of the very first great movies, including "The Squaw Man" in 1914, but he was one of the only great silent directors to have no trouble transitioning to sound, and he made great movies in the sound era, even into the 1950s! Some of his movies include: The Ten Commandments, The Greatest Show on Earth, and Samson and Delilah. Of course, he also had a memorable acting role in Billy Wilder's "Sunset Boulevard" in 1950 (he did a great job, but it was made easier because he was playing himself!). He passed away in 1959 at the age of 77. Important Added Info: Note that our consignor purchased this group of items from an auction of items from the estate of Cecil B. DeMille, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. It includes the metal notary stamper used by his personal secretary, Gladys Rosson, who was a Notary Public (and the stamper stamps her name and Notary Republic in a circular seal, which she would only do after she had verified the signature of the individual signing the document she attached her seal to). In addition, the lot contains two canceled checks from the account of Cecil B. DeMille Productions, and also two canceled checks from 1916, which we imagine were on an account used by Cecil B. DeMille, but his name does not appear anywhere on the checks. Finally, there is a Western Union telegram from 1929 from Mary Pickford to Mrs. Cecil B. DeMille inviting Mr. And Mrs. DeMille to a surprise birthday party for Douglas Fairbanks (Mary's husband)! The winner of this auction will receive all of these items! Note that this item needs to be shipped in a box, which might be a fairly small box, or might be a very large box. What is important for the bidders to know is that this item very likely CAN'T be combined with other purchases, because there would not be much savings if any, because this item will be in a box with substantial depth (because the item is "three-dimensional"), while other purchases will be in a flat package, and trying to combine them would likely damage this item. If you purchase multiple items like this (ones that need to be packed in a box), then they likely can be combined with each other (unless the resulting box is simply too large). So please bear in mind that this item likely must be sent separately in a box (the size and depth of the box will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it (so if you would pay $150 for the item, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50 for the item). Condition: very good. The items have some wear but are overall in pretty good condition, especially considering their age (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
