What a dizzy Eden this is!"; "Screenplay based on a story by Monckton Hoffe"; "Written and directed by Preston Sturges"; about a nerdy anthropologist on an ocean liner voyage, who gets swindled by an old gambler/cheat and his beautiful daughter, and later, she tries to do it again by impersonating a completely different woman, but he is sure she is the woman he met before) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Henry Fonda, Charles Coburn, Eugene Pallette, Martha O'Driscoll, William Demarest, Eric Blore, Janet Beecher, Melville Cooper, and Robert Greig. Note that the credit "Screenplay based on a story by Monckton Hoffe" sounds reminiscent of a W.C. Fields credit for himself under a wacky pseudonym, but actually, Monckton Hoffe is a real man, who was an Irish playwright, who worked in Hollywood mostly in the late 1920s through the early 1940s, but "The Lady Eve" is far and away his most famous credit! Important Added Info: Note that this movie was released in 1949 through the MPEA, which distributed movies in Germany, Japan, and Austria right after World War II until 1950 (a lot of the people who went to those movies were U.S. servicemen stationed in those countries). Also note that we have provided an image of all the pages of this 4-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and the interior two pages together). This way, you see the entire program, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image.
