An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) No Ransom (released outside the U.S. as "Bonds of Honor"), the 1934 Fred Newmeyer romantic crime comedy ("suggested by 'The Big Mitten' by Damon Runyon") starring Leila Hyams, Phillips Holmes, Jack La Rue, Robert McWade, Hedda Hopper, Vince Barnett, and Eddie Nugent. Note that Phillips Holmes had made an impression in some movies in the late 1920s. In 1931, he would get the lead in the first version of "An American Tragedy", which made it seem like he would become a major star, but that didn't materialize. He had a major affair with Libby Holman, but that was certainly complicated, and when they broke up, she immediately married his brother! Oddly, years later, Holman would have another very complicated affair with Montgomery Clift, who played the same part in the remake of "An American Tragedy", retitled "A Place in the Sun". Sadly, Holmes died in a plane crash in 1942. I am very surprised no one has made a movie about his life, or a joint movie about him and Libby Holman! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. 5" tear in the right end of the horizontal fold as well as some separation and small paper loss at the crossfold and some of the ends of the foldlines (repaired with tape from the back); minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines); paper loss in the upper left blank corner (see the image at right) as well as an enlarged tack hole in the other three corners of the poster Learn More about condition grades
