Date Sold 3/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1934 Re-Release Theatrical Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Fighting Sheriff, the 1931 Louis King cowboy western ("Buck Jones fights his way to glory and romance!") starring Buck Jones (in the title role as the Fighting Sheriff, Bob Terry), Loretta Sayers, Robert Ellis, Harlan Knight, Paul Fix, Clarence Muse, Bill Patton, Blackjack Ward, and Silver. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item (only a glass slide) from this movie until we received this 1934 re-release half-sheet! Note that while this poster technically could be rolled, we intend to send it in a large flat package, because we fear that rolling it (even in a wide tube) will potentially damage it, so bear this in mind before bidding on this very rare poster. A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restoration was done really well, and the poster displays really well! Condition: very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster had darkened somewhat, typical of Columbia half-sheets and lobby cards of this period. It had pinholes and tiny paper loss around the edges. The poster was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The very rare poster displays well. Learn More about condition grades
