Date Sold 7/5/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Glass Slide (measures 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" [4 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Mickey Mouse is an animated animation cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. He first appeared in the cartoon short Steamboat Willie which was one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound and the first cartoon to feature a fully post-produced soundtrack. He was massively merchandised in the 1930s, and was a major part of the success of the Walt Disney studio. After his starring role in Fantasia (in the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence), his popularity waned somewhat, but he remained the mascot of the studio, and has always been central to the studio (for example, Disney had a "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show where the children wore mouse ears). Important Added Info: Note that this is a wonderful set of two 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" English glass slides for this 1930s Mickey Mouse cartoon. They come in a printed box, which is designed to hold the two slides (each of which has six images), and has a wonderful color front cover with a scene of Mickey Mouse in Giant Land. We previously auctioned a similar set of English glass slides, which had "produced with permission of WALTER E. DISNEY", which makes us pretty certain that set was from 1930 or extremely soon afterwards. This set is from 1934. The slides were made by Ensign Ltd of London "By arrangement with Walt Disney Mickey Mouse, Ltd.". We are also currently auctioning two wonderful similar sets of two English glass slides from Mickey Mouse in Pigmyland and from Night Before Christmas, both in separate auctions. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
