The company was found in 1757 by Giovanni Giacomo and Carlo Stefano Cinzano. Cinzano remained a family-run business until 1985. Artist: Leonetto Cappiello Important Added Info: Note that this poster was first created around 1910. In 1970, a company made a high quality re-strike of this poster, and it was sold commercially. The poster being auctioned here is the 1970 re-strike. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases and scuffs scattered throughout. It had a semi-circular tear in the bottom right corner that entirely separated that area. There was some tiny paper loss on the tear and it went into the second "O" of "TORINO", and a partial semi-circular tear in the bottom left corner that extended into the "VE" of "VERMOUTH". Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that at some point after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled and there are now minor creases in the left border (solely in the excess linen, and not at all in the poster itself).
