Original Circus Willy Hagenbeck, the circa 1960s German circus poster promoting a wild animal show which focused on tigers. Note that Willy came from the Hagenbeck circus/zoo family which started with Carl Hagenbeck Sr. in the 1860s. Carl Hagenbeck Jr. co-founded the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus and was a merchant of wild animals who supplied many European zoos, as well as P. T. Barnum. He later created the modern zoo with animal enclosures without bars that were closer to their natural habitat, and founded the Tierpark Hagenbeck zoo in Hamburg. Carl Hagenbeck Jr. had a younger brother named Wilhelm (known as Willy) who also created a circus and animal show
