An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #2 (Atomic Peril) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Commando Cody: Sky Marshall of the Universe, the 1953 Franklin Adreon, Fred C. Brannon, & Harry Keller science fiction (sci-fi) outer space serial ("Commando Cody in his amazing space adventures"; "Sky Marshall [sic] of the Universe"; "Written by Ronald Davidson") starring Judd Holdren (in the title role as "Commando Cody"; billed on some items as "Judd Holden"), Aline Towne, William Shallert, Richard Crane, Grant Withers, Joanne Jordan, and Dale Van Sickel. Note that this character was in a serial the previous year called "Radar Men From the Moon", but in that serial he was played by George Wallace. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Republic Pictures for use for all chapters of their "Commando Cody" serial. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank rectangle in the bottom right. They would be sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific chapters of the serial, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. There were also stock posters from this serial that were overprinted with the names of the specific chapters, for theaters willing to purchase an entire set of them. This particular stock poster has been overprinted with the chapter 2 title, "ATOMIC PERIL" (most collectors prefer a poster that has an original overprinted title to one that has a blank non-overprinted area). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had some small letters on the back of the lower vertical fold that slightly bled through to the front in the yellow background near the title, with a partial second vertical fold in the bottom of the vertical fold. Otherwise, it only had pretty minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
