An Original Vintage Theatrical 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Stage Play Still (Learn More) Elmer the Great, the 1928 Broadway stage play production (based on the story by Ring Lardner) starring Walter Huston (in the title role as Elmer Kane), Lida MacMillan, Nan Sunderland, Bill Bender, and Tom Blake. Note that Walter Huston was 45 when he starred in this play. The following year he made his first movie. This play about a young man from the sticks who becomes a star baseball pitcher was adapted into a movie in 1933, but Hollywood chose Joe E.
