Note that Marc Chagall was born Moishe Zakharovich Shagal, and he was a Russian-French artist of Belarusian Jewish origin. Not only was he a very early "modernist", but he was also associated with several major artistic styles. He created works in virtually every artistic medium, including painting, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramic, tapestries and fine art prints. While he was born in 1887, and was referred to as "the quintessential Jewish artist of the twentieth century" by art critic Robert Hughes, he lived so long and was so prolific that he not only was active during modernism's golden age in Paris, but he also was active in Cubism, Symbolism, Fauvism, and Surrealism. He passed away in 1985 at the age of 97. Artist: Marc Chagall Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
