An Original Vintage World War II Poster (measures 18" x 22" [46 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Men and Women Volunteers Wanted, the 1941 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("Register Train Serve for Civilian Defense"; "Official registration center of Philadelphia council of defense"; "Women's Home Defense Association") encouraging people to sign up for the civilian defense forces, and featuring patriotic art of a bald eagle on a blue field. Note that in World War II, there was a major fear across the nation that at any time enemy forces might invade the United States, and civilian defense groups were set up across the country to prepare for the eventuality, and since so many men were off fighting at war, many women took part in this effort.
