Selznick; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a highly fictionalized biography of Pancho Villa, loosely based on the novel by Edgcumb Pinchon) starring Wallace Beery (in the title role as Pancho Villa), Leo Carrillo, Fay Wray, Joseph Schildkraut, Mischa Auer, Noah Beery Jr., George E. Stone, Stuart Erwin, and Katherine DeMille NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing it to our massive database of litho numbers, we can tell that it is likely from 1949 (but because MGM started over again with litho numbers every 8 or 9 years, it could possibly be from 1940 or 1957, but we think it is very unlikely that this movie would have received a re-release in 1957, and 1940 does not seem consistent with the type of printing, so we think it is almost surely from 1949). If anyone knows more about the date of this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines. It had pinholes, tears, and small paper loss around the edges, with larger paper loss in the middle of the right border, extending into the middle of the background area. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
