eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 9p679 PLAYGIRL AFTER DARK military 1sh 1962 full-length art of sexy Jayne Mansfield! Date Sold 9/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1962 Vintage Theatrical Folded Military One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Too Hot to Handle (released in the U.S. in 1962 as "Playgirl After Dark"), the 1960 Terence Young English sexploitation exotic dancer stripper bad girl crime thriller ("It strips the secrets from the intimate key clubs!"; "The girls who rock the night as tease queens!"; "The sizzler you read about in Playboy Magazine!"; "In the naked glare of the Key Clubs... A glamorous, amorous girl world for pleasure hunters!") starring Jayne Mansfield, Leo Glenn, Karlheinz Bohm (billed as "Carl Boehm"), Christopher Lee, Kai Fischer, and Danik Patisson (billed as "introducing Danik Patisson"). Note that this movie was a gritty English crime thriller, but when it was released in the U.S., the U.S. distributor wisely seized on what they believed to be the film's greatest asset, namely Jayne Mansfield's body, and they re-named it "Playgirl After Dark", and put a large near-naked image of Mansfield on the posters, and made it look like it was some kind of sex film that revolved around her (I would highly doubt that that was not a wise move on their part!). Oddly, when the film was re-released in the 1960s, the original English title of "Too Hot To Handle" was used. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This is a military one-sheet. Military one-sheets were printed at the same time as the regular U.S. one-sheets when the movie was first released. They were made to be used on U.S. military installations. Sometimes the poster has small writing at the bottom that says "For Distribution and Use at U.S. Military Establishments Only", and sometimes they just have "Litho in U.S.A." or "Printed in U.S.A." in small letters in the lower right or lower left (most often, the ones that were used in the 1950s in the Korean War have "Litho in U.S.A.", and the ones that were used in the 1960s in the Vietnam War have "Printed in U.S.A.) Note that this one-sheet measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm].
UPDATED 09/12/2017: Note that we neglected to mention that this is a military one-sheet. We have updated the auction accordingly. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
