An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (measures 14" x 17") (Learn More)

John Meade's Woman (released in other English-speaking countries as "John Meade's Lady"), the 1937 Richard Wallace Depression era Dust Bowl big business romantic love triangle melodrama (a wacky story of a ruthless businessman who romances and leaves a young woman, and she becomes a leader of the farmers who want to stop the businessman, and after all sorts of catastrophes, the businessman lays dying at the end of the movie and the two confess their love for each other) starring Edward Arnold (in the title role as John Meade), Francine Larrimore, Gail Patrick, George Bancroft, John Trent, and Sidney Blackmer. Note that French-born Francine Larrimore had appeared in a few silent movies when she was a teenager, but then went to New York and became a successful Broadway actress. Since so many years had passed since her earlier movies, it was advertised that she was making her debut in films with this movie, which was not strictly true! The movie was not well received, and she went back to Broadway and never made another movie. Also note that it seems likely that producer B.P. Schulberg and director Richard Wallace did not get along on this production, because the advertising has B.P. Schulberg's credit in a fairly normal size type, while Wallace's directing credit is the tiniest size type we have ever seen!

Condition: good. pinholes, tears, creases, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the card; a few light stains and scuffs throughout the card

This item is in "lesser" condition (what many dealers would describe as "good" or "good to very good", or in the case of items with major defects, which should be easily seen on our large images, "fair")! It has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right (although some of the defects may not be so easily seen in the images). Therefore, in addition to the images, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above. We know that some collectors could accept this item's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this item if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this item because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this item offered again!
