eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2h0913 PAUL LUKAS signed deluxe 8x10 stage play still 1930s Date Sold 6/12/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Stage Play Still (Learn More) Paul Lukas was an Austro-Hungarian actor from the 1910s to the 1970s. He was born in 1891, and became an actor in 1918 in Austria, and he made movies there for nearly ten years before moving to Hollywood in 1927. He achieved his greatest success in his 40s, winning the Academy Award in 1943 for "Watch on the Rhine". In his later years, he began appearing on the stage in New York City, making fewer and fewer movie and TV appearances. He passed away in 1971 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that this deluxe still (which is from the stage play of Watch on the Rhine, NOT the film version), has been personally autographed (signed) by Paul Lukas (it is also signed by another performer, perhaps Mady Christians, who was also in the play, but the handwriting is difficult to read, and we can't say for certain)! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this signed item (and a number of other signed items in this auction) come from the collection of Lily Mae Caldwell, who was a newspaper film reviewer for many years, starting in the early 1930s and continuing into the 1970s. During her career she met many celebrities, both in person and through correspondence, and over that time she acquired a number of signed items. This item was found in her estate, and while she did not have a Certificate of Authenticity, we feel certain that the autograph on this item (and the other items from her collection in this auction) are surely authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good. There are a number of creases scattered throughout the still. Learn More about condition grades
