An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

The Private Life of Helen of Troy, the 1927 Alexander Korda silent historical Greek legend romantic comedy ("She lived and HOW!"; "Did she Love? - Oh Baby! Did she Lure? - Sweet Mama! Did she Live? - And How!"; "Oh Man! Gosh! Oh-my! M-m-m-m-") starring Maria Corda (in the title role as Helen of Troy), Lewis Stone, Ricardo Cortez, George Fawcett, Alice White, Alice Adair (as Aphrodite), William 'Wild Bill' Elliott (billed on some material as "Gordon Elliott"). Note that star Maria Corda was a major Hungarian silent film actress who moved to Germany, where she was directed by Alexander Corda, who she married. At the height of her fame, he was mostly known as her director! But when sound came in, her career diminished greatly, and they were divorced in 1932, and he changed his name to Alexander Korda, and became one of the most famous British producers ever! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that this cool candid shows Alice Adair, who was the winner of a beauty contest to pick the person who would play Aphrodite (Goddess of Beauty) in this movie, and director Alexander Korda is congratulating her and presenting her with (no doubt) a golden apple, which had significance in the Aphrodite legend!

Condition: good to very good.
