Little Shop of Horrors, the 1982 - 1987 Howard Ashman off-Broadway musical production ("Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman"; "Music by Alan Menken"; "Based on the film by Roger Corman") starring Ellen Greene, Lee Wilkof, Hy Anzell, Frank Luz, Sheila Kay Davis, Leilani Jones, Jennifer Leigh Warren, and Ron Taylor. Note that this was the first major success of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. It was the success of this play that led to the Hollywood movie version of this play (sort of a remake of the Roger Corman film), which led to Ashman and Menken being hired by Disney to do The Little Mermaid, and to much great success after this!
