Auction History Result #002 I'M NO ANGEL WC '33 West, Grant Date Sold 11/13/2001Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) I'm No Angel, the 1933 Wesley Ruggles circus sideshow romantic love triangle musical comedy ("Come up and see me sometime - any time!"; "Goodness... has nothing to do with it!"; about a sexy dancer in a third rate circus; she lives with a guy, but that doesn't stop her from seeing other men; when her boyfriend goes to jail, she becomes the lion tamer; she gets a rich playboy boyfriend, but she wants his cousin, played by super young Cary Grant!) starring Mae West, Cary Grant (in his 12th movie role!), Gregory Ratoff, Edward Arnold, Ralf Harolde, Kent Taylor, and William B. Davidson. Note that this movie was originally called "It Ain't No Sin", and the enactment of the Production Code caused the title to be changed to the much tamer "I'm No Angel", and apparently caused several racy scenes to end up on the cutting room floor! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that not only does this window card picture both West and her very young co-star Cary Grant (surprising, given the size of West's ego!), but the window card also has what became Mae West trademark, "Come up and see me sometime". It is an extremely rare for any movie poster to contain such famous quotes, for normally the quotes only become famous after the film's release. Wouldn't it be wonderful if every film with a memorable line always had a poster that contained it (like Casablanca with "Here's looking at you, kid", or Dirty Harry with "Do you feel lucky, well, do you punk?")! Condition: very good. There are several tack holes in the top blank border as well as ten in the edges of the image background. There is a tack hole between "MAE" and "WEST" and one just above "WEST", but none that affect the stars' faces. There is a crease in the bottom right corner. There is minor scuffing in the "AE" of "MAE" and in the "m" of "I'm". Fortunately the tack holes are all in unimportant locations, and are not at all distracting. I would think the majority of collectors would be very happy with this window card as is (it has had zero restoration), but if one wanted to, its minor defects could easily be corrected through restoration (without backing the window card).
