An Undated (probably early 1960s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded Japanese Two-Panel Movie Poster (measures approximately 20" x 57") (Learn More) Sands of Iwo Jima, the classic 1950 Allan Dwan World War II (WWII) United States Marine Corps (USMC) military action thriller ("A great human story... Makes a mighty motion picture!"; "The Marines have landed... And the situation is well in hand!"; "The Marines' Greatest Hour!") starring John Wayne (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), John Agar, Adele Mara, Forrest Tucker, Wally Cassell, James Brown (NOT the famous singer!), Richard Webb, Arthur Franz, Julie Bishop, James Holden, Peter Coe, and Richard Jaeckel NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this two-panel poster was printed in 2 sections that are designed to overlap and form one complete image. Also, maybe it is just me, but it seems kind of strange to think that just five years after World War II ended, Japanese audiences were cheering John Wayne helping win World War II for the Allies! Condition: very good. paper loss in the right border of the top panel (in the background area to the right of the top of the title, just entering the edge of the red letter); smaller paper loss in the right border of the bottom panel, entirely in the background to the right of the red letter second from bottom; there are extra creases along the foldlines (each panel was folded into thirds); other than the above, the poster is in pretty nice condition, and if linenbacked, it would surely look great!
