An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Stage Play Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Roy Rogers (born Leonard Slye, often referred to as the "King of the Cowboys") is considered one of the all-time top singing cowboy western actors (he started in movies in the 1930s and worked in film until the 1950s, often with The Sons of the Pioneers, and comedy sidekicks including Gabby Hayes and Andy Devine; in 1951, he transitioned to television and had a very successful TV show for six seasons) and was nearly always accompanied by his equally famous horse, Trigger. He had many female co-stars until he starred with Dale Evans, and they married, and remained married for over 50 years! He passed away in 1998 at the age of 86. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the date at the top of the window card correlates to either 1944 or 1950. Our consignor is a Roy Rogers expert, and he tells us that he read that Roy Rogers did a series of 26 one-night shows in 1950, so that makes sense that the card would be from that year (and if they were only used in 26 different areas on 26 days, then that would explain why we have never seen or heard of this great window card before! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good to very good. There are some faint smudges, small stains, and creases around the edges of the card, with a few creases and scuffs scattered in the image. The card has never had any restoration.
