Somerset Maugham"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about an unfaithful wife of a Singapore rubber plantation owner who is spurned by her lover and shoots him, and then pretends it was an accident, and she almost gets away with it, but there is a letter she wrote that is incriminating, but can she get the letter destroyed, and what will her husband think?) starring Bette Davis (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Herbert Marshall (who had a lesser role in the 1929 version of this film), James Stephenson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Frieda Inescort, Gale Sondergaard, and Victor Sen Yung NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this title card, and that was in a complete set (the entire set sold for $1,720!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card was partially folded vertically, not down the center, but slightly to the right of Davis' hair, running down the right side of her dress. The card also has slightly darkened, typical of Warner Bros. linen lobby cards of this period. There are a few tiny tears in the left blank border. Some talented restorer pressed and flattened the card and performed slight touch up on the vertical fold described above, but otherwise left the card as is (and it is not backed). The restoration is nicely done, and you really mostly only notice it at all when you tilt the card to the light. Learn More about condition grades
