An Unfolded French Advertising Poster (measures 47 1/2" x 63 1/4" [121 x 161 cm]) (Learn More) Fap'Anis, the circa 1920s French advertising poster promoting an anise-flavored Pastis aperitif liquor (the creation of Pastis was in response to the banning of absinth in 1915), and featuring art of a sexy flapper enjoying the drink. Note that this is a mysterious poster! The woman depicted is French singer and actress Gaby Deslys, who was extremely popular throughout the world in the 1910s. However, some suggest that this poster was part of a hoax perpetuated by a group of humorists, and Fap'Anis never existed. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Delval Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has many creases scattered in various areas. There is a large area of paper loss at upper left and there is a large tear to the right of that area (see our image). It has some border defects and it is somewhat fragile due to the tears and paper loss at upper left. After proper restoration the poster will display well (and we can provide detailed super-sized images to assist with that restoration), but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
