An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 20" x 33 1/2") (Learn More)

Phantom of the Opera, the 1943 Arthur Lubin Universal musical horror thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Terror!"; based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, and a remake of the silent classic featuring Lon Chaney Sr.) starring Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster (as Christine), Claude Rains (in the title role as Erique Claudin, the Phantom of the Opera), Edgar Barrier (as Raoul), Leo Carrillo, Jane Farrar, J. Edward Bromberg, Fritz Feld, Hume Cronyn, and "a cast of thousands"!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a special poster that shows the "Dramatic Plan of Paris Opera House showing locale of principal action in Phantom of the Opera". Note that this poster shows both the opera house itself and the famed catacombs and lake below the opera house, where the phantom lived! This special poster was folded in the usual way, and it was most likely originally a supplement to the pressbook, but it might have also been an advertisement that was mailed directly to theaters that had booked this movie. The poster measures 20" x 33 1/2", and has no printing of any kind on the back of the poster.

Condition: good to very good. There are faint light brown water stains scattered through much of the upper half of the poster, and a far lesser amount in the bottom half. There are creases down the vertical foldline and diagonal creases in the left and right ends of the middle foldline. There are pinholes, creases, and some tiny tears around the edges of the poster.

IN THIS SPECIAL HALLOWEEN AUCTION, we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus there are some defects (like separation on folds, tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image. Therefore we strongly recommend that you BOTH read our written description of the item, AND ALSO look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
