An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #5 (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Postman Always Rings Twice, the classic 1946 Tay Garnett romantic love triangle murder crime film noir ("Their Love was a Flame that Destroyed!"; "The Book that Blazed to Best-Seller Fame!"; "Based on the novel by James M. Cain"; about a woman trapped in a loveless marriage who gets a drifter to kill her husband, and it seems like they will get away with it, but will they?) starring Lana Turner, John Garfield, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, Leon Ames, Audrey Totter, and Alan Reed. Note that this movie was re-made in 1981 by Bob Rafelson, starring Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good. The card was once taped to a mat, and there was tape on the back of the top half of the left and right borders and on the back of the entire top border (the tape was not put there for a restoration purpose). The card was water stained down the right 3" of the card and in the right half of the bottom 2". The card was used as a backing for an 8x10 still at one time, and someone stapled the still to the back of the center of the card with three pairs of staples across the top and six pairs of staples across the bottom. There are three areas of rust staining (caused by two pairs of staple holes in each area) in the bottom of the image (to the left of the iron, in Lana's hand, and in John's hand). There are staple holes in three places in the top of the image (fortunately, all in the background). Obviously, this card has major defects, but it is incredibly lucky that the defects are almost completely not in the images of either star (although one of each of their hands is affected). At some point, someone put three pieces of conservation tape on the back of the right of the bottom border (where the card had been most water stained). Certainly, this card has significant flaws, but the images of the stars are largely unaffected, and a talented restorer could paperback this card, and after proper restoration, the card will look great, and there will be little restoration within the images of either star (just the areas in the bottom of their hands described above)!
