Original Vintage Lobby Card (Measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Madonna of Avenue A, the 1929 Michael Curtiz New York City bootlegging prostitution romantic melodrama (an incredible story of a woman who is a madam in an upscale house of prostitution; she has a daughter at an expensive boarding school who has no idea what her mother does; the daughter gets involved with a man who turns out to be a bootlegger and as a result, she is expelled from school and returns home to discover the truth about her mother!; she gets married to her boyfriend, trying to get him to go straight, but her mother, not knowing that her daughter has married the bootlegger, has him framed for murder, and afterwards she learns that he is married to her daughter and that the daughter is pregnant, and the mother buys a $10,000 life insurance policy and takes poison so that a lawyer can be hired to free her son-in-law) starring Dolores Costello, Grant Withers, Douglas Gerrard, Louise Dresser, and Otto Hoffman. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a hand-colored card. In the days of silent film prior to the invention of good quality full-color printing, studios would have lobby cards printed in black and white and then amazingly would hire women to hand-color the cards one at a time (apparently labor was very cheap at the time)! So, each card is colored slightly differently, and the coloring is never a perfect match. Condition: fine. Learn More about condition grades
