A 1971 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More)

The Shooting, the 1966 Monte Hellman cowboy western ("Suspenseful Desert Pursuit in the 'High Noon' Tradition"; "Unequalled climax which we urge you not to reveal") starring Jack Nicholson ("Violent - Sadistic - Merciless"), Millie Perkins ("her first Major role since Diary of Anne Frank"), Will Hutchins, Warren Oates ("as Willet Gashade"), and Charles Eastman. Note that this movie was made from a script that Jack Nicholson had written for Roger Corman, but which Corman rejected, due to its subject matter (it might seem strange that Corman would reject anything, but this dealt with abortion, an extremely touchy subject). Also note that while this movie was never released widely when it was first made, it WAS shown in film festivals in 1966. In 1969, it played theatrically in Paris for one entire year. In 1971, it was shown theatrically for one week at a Texas theater, and regular U.S. posters were created for that release (which strongly promote Jack Nicholson, as he had achieved much fame since the movie was made). Note that the above information was supplied to us directly from director Monte Hellman, and that the movie had a DVD release in 2014.

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: very good to fine, NO CUTS.
