You couldn't take your eyes off me. That's why I'm here.'"; "'I'm Helen Morgan. I'm a star, a star...'"; "How did you get in here, baby? You don't look like our kind..."; "How could this happen to a girl like Helen Morgan?"; "Helen Morgan sat on a piano - and no star ever climbed higher. Helen Morgan fell in love, and no woman ever fell lower...! Her real story - from real life - the story no one has told before! There was only one Helen Morgan - there's only one The Helen Morgan Story"; "This is the intimate startling real-life story behind the glitter of the girl the called the Goddess of the Jazz Age. A story no one has told before..."; "Written by Oscar Saul, Dean Riesner, Stephen Longstreet, and Nelson Gidding"; about the famed real life torch singer, Helen Morgan, who became a major star at the height of the Roaring Twenties, but who became an alcoholic and had a sensational crash landing to her career in the early 1930s; she had one final triumph in the re-make of "Show Boat" in 1936, but died of cirrhosis of the liver in 1941 when she was only 41 years old) starring Ann Blyth (in the title role as Helen Morgan), Paul Newman (extremely young in his fourth movie role!), Richard Carlson, Gene Evans, Alan King, Cara Williams, and Edward Platt NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a test photo used to show one of the many costumes that Paul Newman wore during this movie (the stars would put on each costume and stand next to a board with the details of when that costume was used in the movie, and then they would try on a different one and repeat the process, until they had tried on all their costumes; I wonder if major stars of today have to endure this same ritual?). Also note that this wardrobe test photo measures 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The still with Newman making a face at upper left has pinholes around the edges and two punch holes at left.
