An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 46" x 61 3/4" [117 x 157 cm]) (Learn More) hommage a Marcel Pagnol, the 1950s French stock poster featuring artwork of various characters from Marcel Pagnol's films. Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Gaumont for use by theaters showing re-releases of Marcel Pagnol's films. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank rectangle in the middle right. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Most collectors consider them more valuable with a printed snipe attached, or with an overprinted snipe area.
