Date Sold 5/10/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1960s) Re-Release (re-titled "Hitler's Inferno" for this re-release) Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Daleka Cesta (released in the U.S. in 1950 as "Distant Journey"), the 1949 Alfred Radok Czechoslovakian World War II (WWII) Jews-trying-to-survive-the-Holocaust-in-Czechoslovakia melodrama starring Blanka Waleska, Otomar Krejca, Viktor Ocasek, Zdenka Baldova, Jiri Spirit, and Eduard Kohout. Note that sadly this movie is almost completely forgotten except by students of the Holocaust. It is one of the very first movies made about the Holocaust, and one of the first to detail what it was like for Jewish people who were sent to concentration camps. It was filmed in 1948, just three years after the end of World War II, but it was not released in Czechoslovakia until 1949. It tells the story of a Jewish female doctor married to a gentile doctor, and because of that, she is initially exempted from going to a concentration camp, but all of her relatives are forced to, and eventually she has to as well, and the movie graphically shows the horrors that Jews in Czechoslovakia suffered during those years, both in and out of concentration camps. Most who have seen the movie agree that it is one of the best ever made about the Holocaust, and the people who acted in it had lived through that horror, and director Radok's family died in concentration camps. Note that the movie had a limited release in the U.S. in 1950 as "Distant Journey", but was then re-released in the 1960s an an exploitation movie with the new title of "Hitler's Inferno" and with the tagline "A devastating story of Nazi sadism". Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1960s re-release pressbook! Not only that, but the only other item we have ever had from the U.S. release of this movie was a single still many years ago. Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. Learn More about condition grades
